Yes I do love JEWELRY!!

I'll admit it... i LOVE jewelry, cant help it. Its the one thing that can take a t-shirt and jeans from blah housewife to VA VA VA VOOOM in a matter of seconds! 5 strands of pearls with a t-shirt... why yes I will!! Big earrings with a pony tail... well of course! There is just no reason to NOT love jewelry.

Now of course since I started TPJ it seems to take quite a bit to "wow" me but lately.... wow is pretty frequent! My tastes are evolving and the talent making its way to Etsy is MIND BLOWING!

Today... I HAVE to share with you: Bionic Unicorn This Minneapolis based designer hit Etsy in September of 2008 and has had my eye for a while!

Call it Steampunk, call it eco- friendly assemblage... I call it FANTASTIC!

Rebirth.... renew.....

So I've abandoned this blog. I used to use this to show off what was new from The Prairie Jeweler but this past year has been such an event that really, TPJ has been on the back burner. Still warm but not anything like it used to be. Dont worry though, i'm ok with that!

The first anniversary of Whatta Waist is about to come... and its been a MOST amazing year. I've learned so much about myself artistically as well as personally. I have to say that without Kari 2009 would have been so much less FANTASTIC. I thank you from the bottom of my heart! What a wild ride and I cant wait to see what trouble we can get ourselves into in 2010.

NOW... as for this blog... I think i'll take it for a spin... show off some of my favorite things from Etsy (the best place to shop EVA). I still feel like so many people are missing out on the wonders that the handmade world has to offer.

TODAYS find for me.... Bagatelles And Co.... This shop is filled with the prettiest of little clutches and bags. It makes me wish for hot NYE plans to bring in 2010. Think I'd look silly sitting at the house with my kids and holding on to one of these gorgeous bags???

This is my favorite.. its the plaid that gets me every time~

Yes I'm still alive....

I know its pointless to apologize for being so negligent but man... I'M SORRY!!! I've been busy for sure and the blog has suffered.

So here you go... a little photo guide to what I've been doing......

Every trip needs to start out with a little vintage truck lovin! I wanted to stop but the driver didnt care. She's so hardcore. boo

This one is for her though... she was lovin on the retro neon all along the way. It was just gloomy enough to see the glow!

And now for the Claremore, Ok Green Country Classic Ranch Rodeo set up! The first duo between TPJ and Whatta Waist. We had a blast and i think the set ups looked great!

Well today's goal was to get another blog entry done... and look at me 3 hours to spare!! I tell ya I'm an overachiever! NOT

As I sit here listening to my heater run constantly I am so thankful that my hobby is one that is indoors and not oh say.... competitive tree climbing! Kansas has decided to get darn chilly this week. Think we're done seeing above freezing for a few days. I want to move to my sisters in Alabama!

Tuesday Night Brain Storming!

I love that once a week my friend Kari and I get together, avoid our kids (like good moms) and do as much brainstorming, creating and or just general b!tching. Tonight was more like a decompression session... just some time to chill. I worked on some photos and we talked about our upcoming venture (teaser again i know).

Another thing that came up... we need some new junkin' grounds... anyone have any suggestions for us? Thinking of heading toward Wichita so if you have any ideas of places south to south west on the Kansas Turnpike drop me a line! Inspiration is our fuel!

Here are a few necklaces I've been working on the last week. Enjoy!

"Ombre" my obsession with leather continues into necklaces now. "Pink Turquoise" (dyed Howlite) strung between double leather straps with a gorgeous Bali silver center.

"Tuscon" a junkers dream, leather gently holds a great turquoise donut with dangling charms of goldstone, turquoise, sterling silver and jasper.

I've been busy keeping up with my networking but its starting to make my head spin.... Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace, the Blog, my store.... oh wait I have a life too. I tell ya what, determination is a tough curse but I'm cool with that!

RockStar Mentality

I'm so ready for all the great new things that 2009 has in store for me! I know that TPJ will be even more successful this year and I have some awesome news to share with all of you soon that will just blow your mind! I know you hate teasers... or at least I do but believe me, its well worth it!

Today I've devoted my whole day to TPJ and getting new stuff photographed, cataloged and listed. Even did a little creating while I was at it. I'm spent but its only 3pm.... I've got so much more time in the day!

So while I jam out I'll let ya'll check out the latest from TPJ!!

Think skinny!

If it were only that easy! I'm surely not the only one that feels like the holidays have shoved them into their comfy jamma pants and you may never be able to leave them again!?!?!? I don't think I can even wait to the first of the year to start eating better and getting off my merry arse! So for the sake of SKINNY I'm busting out the latest bunch of "Skinnies"! These cuffs were first introduced back at the beginning of November and were such a hit. Why it took me so long to do more is beyond me but I guess better late than never.
So instead of buying the latest workout DVD or gym membership just buy something skinny and be done with it. There's always next Monday to start!

A pile of "Basket Skinnies" These will be hitting Etsy soon~ if not tonight! The "Tabbed" "Basket Skinny" The "Okie Skinnies" are gorgeous. Black background with rich brown tooling. These are sure to sell out fast!
The "Okie Skinny" even has a "tabbed" version. I love the shape the tab gives these simple bracelets.
So...if you just cant get yourself up and going yet don't worry.... you've got time before you even have to start that New Years Resolution!!! Just buy something skinny!

New Cuffs!!!!

"San"... coming soon to Etsy. Gorgeous 2 tone leather with great tooling and vintage flair. The stamped steel concho is such a great addition!

"Skipper"... aren't they cute?? Narrow and delicate and NOT the norm in leather color. They are kind of blueish/grayish/greenish... totally funky and adorable! Only one left and will be hitting Etsy TOMORROW!!! If it lasts that long!

"Monarch" got a little flashy this time around. This one is larger in size and has pretty crystal bling to it!

"Burst" is a manly one... and on Etsy now for your gift giving ease!

"Flora" has a beautiful new floral heart concho as its centerpiece. Rich colors perfect for fall! On Etsy now!

Cuff 'em and stuff 'em!!!

So for the past few weeks I've been "test driving" a new cuff design.. and I finally feel comfortable listing it!

Now a few of you who have seen me in person may have noticed that I've been wearing a skinny girl belt on my wrist... here we have it... .the new "Belted" line of cuffs!

Only two in stock at this time but we'll see how they go over and take it from there!

It's Overload........

Wow... so things you've learned about me in the past year as a blogger.... I neglect the blog (duh), I like to work like a wild woman in spurts.... and Fall is a crazy time for me. SOooo after the insanity known as Claremore, Oklahoma I have been trying to build my inventory back up. Luckily I've had some good creative nights and put them to good use. So as Nelli stands in my work space getting loaded down with beautiful baubles I decided she needed to be shown off as she's overloaded with fantasticality! (is that a word?? It should be... i like it)

So for your viewing pleasure I give you the ever so decadent NELLI!!!! Good thing she's tough!

Whoa.......

I tell you what... seems I cant catch a break anymore.

Claremore was INSANE... phenomenal.... wild... amazing.... and totally RAD!!! I had an awesome time and the customers were awesome! Went down there with right around 100 pieces and probably made another 12 or so while i was there... lets just say that my sad sad little Etsy.com store is nekked because of it all.

So, you would think I would have come home and got right to work.... well... I would have if I had some supplies... but even those were exhausted while in OK.

Speed up to this week.... should be getting lots of packages of great new supplies and fun but for some reason things are really quiet with my mail box. Hhhmmmmmm.... mysterious. Well guess what..... my mail has been STOLEN!!!! Now there are 2 things I HATE in this world and they are liars and thieves!!! So here we are, one package confirmed GONE and possibly 2 others. I've been frantically tracking packages, calling suppliers, filing police reports, chatting with the USPS and all the neighbors. I hate feeling so violated!

But the show must go on and I reordered this morning and should be back in gear in time for the next show.

So... all I've got for your viewing pleasure today is stuff that was done either prior to heading for OK or done while I was there.

"Tyed"... gorgeous 2 strand turquoise chip necklace with pretty pink crosses adorning it~! Just listed on Etsy yesterday, grab it while you can~!

((whoa... excuse me blogger... but this wasn't sideways in my file.... RUDE))"Dalon" is one heck of a piece... huge coral "chunks" and enough silver to choke a horse! This is not for the weak... that's for darn sure!
Well.... let me explain myself here.... I'm in NO WAY shape or form an OSU Cowboys fan WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But when in Rome......... and when your fabulous friend Courtney says "ooohh look OSU Orange...." You kinda feel like its a good thing. HOWEVER nobody snatched this fancy thing up so it came back with me. I'm gonna just think of it as a Halloween necklace. "Cowboy" will be listed soon... i gotta get it out of my house. LOL ((mad love OSU fans))

Lookie here lookie here... 2 days in a row!!! Heck less than 24 hours even!

So there I was.... just checkin' the mail (you thought I was gonna say spittin' on my goldfish didn't ya??) when i discovered 2 boxes........ MY NEW BUSINESS CARDS!!! Lets just say I'm glad there were no small children in my way as I went barreling into the house to open them!

Last fall i decided that my business cards were too difficult to read (although I loved them). So I wanted to have new ones designed for this fall. I found an awesome store in Etsy called "Go Against the Grain" that does some awesome works. They designed the banner for my shop and now my FAN-FREAKIN- TABULOUS new cards.

I may not have been on here...

But I have been super busy! The new line is going great, and the fall is getting pretty booked.

I've got just a little over 2 weeks until I head to Claremore, OK for a fantastic 3 day show! And whats not to love about the fact that I'm going to be set up next to a custom Saddle Maker and there will be an insane Ranch Rodeo going on!!!! I'm stoked!

So here are a few of the things that have been keeping me busy!
"Soar".... my newest favorite!!! These earrings are soooo yummy!!!

For the boys...."Bay"... simple but fantastic!

"Capitol"... gorgeous turquoise, serpentine and copper... Keep an eye out for more copper coming for this fall. I'm diggin' the colors!

"Fine" is just that... a fine piece to put into your collection. Simple and fun all in one!

I launched the new “Cuffed” line just last week and its been very well accepted! First cuff went to Maryland and 3 more are in my local area!
I’m always hunting new fun leathers to work with and you never know… I’ve always wanted to get into tooling leather myself… I might just go over board with this one! LOL

FINALLY!

So I've been conjuring up this line for the past 7 months now... and FINALLY... I've listed the first one!! I've made others but they sell before I can even get them photographed!

The "CUFFED" line has finally made its way to the TPJ Etsy store front! I could not be more relieved!

Remember back in February or March when I was teasing about this line with the hot picture of Jess?
Well the one she has on in this picture is my first one! I love "Lofty Star" so much that I will never make another like it again!! This one is mine... and I don't like to share. ;-)

So... here are 2 that are ready to roll for the public!
"Monarch" is such a beautiful piece that I didn't even want to embellish the fantastic vintage leather! The very one pictured is already claimed but there will be more SOON!!!

"Roscoe" is already listed!! Just a simple vintage leather strap with a gorgeous star concho dead set in the middle! The existing tooling on this leather made for the perfect accent!

And with the TPJ world getting a little more "edgy" I have also started making some fun cross pieces like "Love Crux" earrings

I guess it just gets in the way of blogging..... I've had so many exciting things going on for TPJ lately and I wish I could dedicate more time to this blog to update you all on it but I just cant. This summer has been wild and wonderful and I don't see it slowing down one bit anytime soon.

Busy = good right... please remind me of that when I'm in a mental institute!

Some gorgeous new things to share soon... promise. That and i finally got busy on the "Cuffed" line... so pretty and funky and fresh and fun and... well you get the point.

Insanely Busy!

I want to be 10 again so I can have a fun summer full of doing NOTHING! The kids have been out of school for 2 weeks and it seems like 2 years! With Day Camps, Tee Ball Games, VBS and the constant whine of "I'm bored" I have no idea how I manage to get anything done... oh wait sure i do... I quit cleaning my house!!!

So in all the insanity I wanted to take a little moment to show off a piece that I made for my friend Angie's LAST birthday. (And by "last" I mean the one a week ago... she claims it will be her last... whatever)

5 strands of crimson and blue glass with a little clear for sparkle. 2 removable rings with the words "Football" & "Basketball" to symbolize the phenomenal year that the Jayhawks have had. I have to thank her husband Dan for giving me total freedom on this project, I love the end result!

So... with all of the insanity in my life lately you would think I would be neglecting my work... oh so wrong! Last night I sat down and created 3 new pieces so keep checking back.... I found my inner cowgirl once again! (Damn I thought I ran her off)

Heres to stormy weather!

I love this time of year in Kansas.... unexpected thunderstorms, torrential downpours, hail that would fill your cocktail glass with one shot (OK so the hail is a real bummer but what do you do... time to make Margaritas outta limes i think) LOL.

So I left you last time with a little teaser about the crystals I had ordered. Well I got them and they are so fantastic~!!! I couldn't wait to get this piece done to share with you.

Custom Works!

There is nothing better than being able to say that you have a ONE OF A KIND! I love it, have since I was a little girl. I'd love to take something that is just ordinary and make it my own. I'd take clothes apart, add trims, change the style and just make it all me! Now I have the pleasure Of making one of a kind jewelry for others like me who love to be different!

Over the past month I've been working with fellow Etsian Michelle Glaeser to create a great piece in trade for something that I LOVE from her shop (i love Etsy).

First let me introduce you to "Peacock Star".... the fun star concho piece that I made for Michelle:

A fun mix of amethyst, sodalite and sterling silver, and a few fun glass pieces thrown in because the color was so completely on the mark!

NOW... Michelle Glaesers work... OMG I'm in LOVE with her stuff and "Lofty Heart" is about to me MINE!

Now this one is for sale in her shop (see link above) and is a total steal! Mine will have a crown on top of the heart because well... you know if I had a halo it would be tarnished and I'm more of a princess anyway. LOL

So.. when you see me sporting "Lofty Heart" be jealous... be very very jealous! ;-)

Wedded Bliss.....

In honor of my childhood best friends upcoming wedding I thought I'd share some of my most popular wedding pieces as well as a little teaser of what I'm working on as well.

I have done "Champagne Wishes" for many many brides and have shipped this one to Boston, St. Louis and a few other places in between. Such a simple piece but gorgeous with a strapless gown!

Well now "Champagne Wishes" has a friend... "Dreams" the sultry gunmetal grey version. Personally I love this color and think it would be fantastic for a bridal party.

But I think the bracelet to go with "Dreams" is my true favorite... I need a reason to dress up!

Now... with the inspiration of Chris's gorgeous and understated dress I'm working on a simple crystal drop pendant that is so simple but amazing all at the same time. Picture delicate sterling silver chain with this anchored to it.

Simple but stunning... I cant wait!

I've been busy busy busy lately so stay tuned for some really fun stuff to come. Think pink, MENS and great earrings!

I WORKED!!!!

Believe it or not I actually sat down and did some work last night! Granted last night turned into the wee hours of this morning but I like 1am when I'm on a roll!!!

Here are a few new things..........

"Calamity" is a spicy thing I tell ya~! Gorgeous coral cross with tiger eye accents and just enough sterling silver to keep it all shiny! I'm lovin this one!!! Looks great layered.

"Isabella" is cool and ready for summer. This Aventurine pendant is a real stunner. These colors are just in time to cool you down!

Honestly these match "Isabella"... but when you're shooting at 6:50am... the light isn't the best on the porch! LOL They are a beautiful aventurine drop earring with sterling and Bali silver accents. Gotta cool the ears too!

And since the "Through Hoops" earrings have been so popular i made another version. These are a bit smaller and a little more "dainty" but still have that jingle jangle gypsy vibe to them! Even you short haired gals can sport these!!! They have yet to get named but its coming to me... I just know it! LOL

Well... there is the fruits of my night.... I'm spent!

New DIGS!

I think I'm a broken record here... every blog starts the same way. I NEGLECT THIS THING something fierce I know! Even Kelley is kickin my rear with the blogging! Ugh... I must make up for it!

So, whats been keeping me... well let me tell you!

I've finally finished my Small Business Owners course at FHTC and its been a relief to have 8+ hours a week back to me. HOWEVER it ended just in time for spring to pick up, mothers day to be looming and for my kiddos and I to MOVE into our new house! Ok so not brand spankin' new but new to us and long awaited!

Since I've not been designing much for new jewelry lately I thought I'd take this time to show off what i have been dreaming up. The new house furnishings!

First off.... MY bedroom. A room that will be all about me. A funky mix of wild and mild. ((I know, some of you want to know where my "mild" is but you all know its there.... somewhere))

We're going ZEBRA on the bed and RED accents!

How fun is that! The walls are very taupe now but I will be jazzing that up!

I found a hot zebra print metal star too but since its not gracing the walls yet and I don't have a picture just use your imagination already... ok here is a copper one like it but mine has rustic zebra print in it.

Then for the walls.... my Pinup Girls!!! I love them in all their glory!

I still need to work on window treatments but that's coming I'm sure!

We're just ready to get in, get unpacked and stretch out. You better be sure to call before you stop by because we'll likely be lounging around in our unmentionables for the first week or too! Whooo hooooo!!!!

I'll update you on the kids' rooms soon! They're fun!!!

Artist Walk TOMORROW!

Talk about falling into something awesome! Last night in my final night of class we were so lucky to have speakers from the great city of Emporia... and low and behold Kayla Oney from Emporia Main Street was there and mentioned the "Artist Walk" that is happening downtown tomorrow. Of course that had me intrigued and... well... now TPJ will be a part of it!

Just spoke with Kayla and my sponsor is Dryers Shoes! 520 Commercial. I know how insane is that?? Me and a shoe store go together like peanut butter and jelly!!! I just hope that I don't spend all my money on shoes.... oh who am i kidding... i would love to!!!

So... come down and visit, see whats new and keep in mind that Mothers Day is sneaking up on us!

The wild ride begins.... bring on the Spring Shows!!! This weekend "Neli" and I are heading up the "Pike" to be a part of "One Big Party" for Ozanam in KC, Mo! I'm thrilled to have been invited to this soiree (think i want to shop some of the great vendors that will be there just as much as I want to sell LOL oh shopping is such a weakness).

Since its been soggy and dreary this week I think everyone should head on down to the show and give some love, not only to a great organization but to all the awesome local talents!

Time flies.......

........when you are up to your eyeballs in insanity!! I cant believe its been 2 weeks since I showed this blog some love. Darn me!
Beside being busy in my personal life I've also been busy getting the "business" all situated. Tax time, business classes, and then throw in 2 kids just for fun. Its just insanity i tell you!

So this past weekend was some time for TPJ and Saturday afternoon I was able to knock out 3 new designs. A necklace that is gorgeous, and 2 bracelets that i find totally cool and tons of fun!

Ch..ch..ch..check 'em out!
"Leif"... 5 coils of neutral wooden jasper, sterling silver and turquoise chips. I've never made anything with memory wire because of my fears that it will look less "polished" or "cheap" but i was so completely wrong! I think i have a new style!

"Pillar"... only because I didn't think "caterpillar" would be appealing. But look at it... it looks like a centipede or something of the sort! Gorgeous teal/turquoise dyed shells all stacked up. It bends so nicely around the wrist. I think shell is going to be a favorite this season!

And last but not least.... "Jersey". Now when i think "Jersey" it brings to mind 2 things... Coyote Ugly (der... i love that movie) and my friend Josie who lives there. Now this piece just so happens to be named after Josie since she was begging for something beach inspired and shells. I think she got it with this one!!! Gorgeous shells and sterling silver.

I just love warmer weather and the inspiration it brings! Bring on the creativity and bring it on in masses!!! I'm ready!

And last but most definitely not least..... from the amazing Analiese Designs ...... "Strawberry Ice Tulips" pendant. This is the super talent behind the Pin Up girls necklaces I do. Yes she is that awesome! She can literally take any quality picture you have and make an awesome pendant for you... and then i can make a great necklace for it to hang on. Beauties!!!

WOW.... let me tell ya... I have some of the HOTTEST friends and customers out there!

I dropped a hint about getting to hang out with the uber talented Kelley of Kelley Photo Design last month for the first ever professional photo shoot of TPJ jewelry.... well... here are some of my favorites.

You might notice that there are some new pieces in these photos that I've not unveiled yet... don't fret... they're coming. One thing I'm super excited about is the "Cuffed" line... fun and funky vintage leather cuffs with some awesome conchos and accents.

My favorite thing to work with... turquoise... mmmm tasty! ((please don't eat it to find out if I'm serious))

Watch out~!! The new "Cuffed" line will be making its debut soon....

Talk about color.... blues are so fantastic! "Cowgirls Dream" in denim blues... fancy that!

Again... lets just turn up the heat some more~! Dripping in gorgeous turquoise.

Glimpse of Spring

I just cant take the cold any more.... so here are a couple pieces to help you "THINK SPRING".

"Krystal" is pure bling at its best. So shiney and versitile. Four strands of simple silver lined glass beads anchored by a gorgeous silver concho. This is sure to go with anything in your closet and add just the right ammount of shine!

"Mojito" cool and refreshing but spunky and wild all at the same time... why I designed something that is ME!! LOL These beads have haunted me for 2 years now, I loved how wild and green they were but could never put my finger on just the right design for them. Well now I've got it! "Mojito" is perfect for that wild cowgirl in your life!

Well.... I'm hustlin to get ready for my wild date with Kelley in less than two weeks. Isn't it so freakin' cute!!! Gawd i could just stare at it all day! Again, Josephine at Retrospective Designs is just amazing and such a sweet woman. You have got to check out her Etsy site, fabulous photo montages, custom invitations, maps and her talents are endless!

As for the jewelry pieces mentioned below (oh yeah... that's what I do here.. I make jewelry.. huh.. damn near forgot) here are the pics of the newest fabulousness!

Wow, time flies when you're taking a little break! I cant believe I've been absent this long already.

But back to work! New designs coming soon (hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend for photos)! Just a little teaser at whats in store:
"Stellar"= Gorgeous double strand in black agate and quartz with the most "bling-tastic" sterling pendant!
"Astonished"= Black Agate and onyx with sterling silver accents and the prettiest of Star conchos as a centerpiece. Very similar to "Chapparal"!!

I only have a few minutes here but wanted to touch base with you before my Christmas hiatus.

I know that this isn't Thanksgiving but after a song my kids did at their Christmas program last I wanted to tell all of you how THANKFUL I am to each and every one of you who have helped support The Prairie Jeweler in the past years.

In the past 7 months since starting my Etsy.com store and my blog I have had the pleasure of sending my pieces all over the United States. I even found a cool map to illustrate this little fact.

Last Week

Just a little hint that this is the last week for custom orders if you want them before Christmas.

If you've been thinking of getting that something special for your someone special you've only got a few days left before we'll have to resort to priority shipping.

Items available in my store will likely make it to you on time with regular USPS first class up until the 18th but I wouldn't guarantee it one day past.

I'll be working on making more pieces with star conchos and other fun conchos that I've picked up so if you've been waiting for something to be listed just drop me a line, i could get to that first for ya if you bribe me just right!

Not a whole lot new left to share, seems I get half a dozen pieces done and then they are all gobbled up at shows. I'm not complaining but it kinda makes for a boring blog.

"Well Behaved"... or not~! Beautiful pink turquoise, sterling silver and clear Swarovski crystals. 2 strands and GOR-GEOUS!!

"Cocoa Rose" although she is already sold I just had to show it off... i cant wait to get my hands on more pink turquoise so i can make another one similar! There is sure to be a very happy lady this Christmas!!!

I have more new pieces but with the weather not cooperating I've been unable to get out to take pictures. If we end up iced in like they say we will tomorrow I think I'll tackle building a light box and do some indoor photos. FUN FUN!

Earring Addiction part II

Well considering I'm swamped with my 9-5, TPJ and the kids activities I think I'm doing pretty good to even remember i have a blog.

I had hung up my travelin' shoes to give myself and "Nelli" a break from doing the Art & Craft Shows but the AWESOME girls in Eureka have invited me to a fabulous event next week so Nellie and I will venture south once more before I take a little break for the season. I cannot even begin to tell all of you what a great group of gals the Eureka Cattlewomen are, they have become awesome followers and supporters of TPJ.

Now... on to my subject... Earring Addiction part II~!

"Caramel"- Gorgeous polymer clay by Sparklebee on Etsy.com. This gal is fantastic and so are these earrings. Super lightweight and very comfy.

"Billings Twist"- The perfect match to the "Billings" necklace on Etsy.com. Great little bit of spice to add to your collection.

"Gringo"- These were made to match the "Gringo" necklace but that darn thing flew off the "shelves" I'm in the process of making another so don't fret. These earrings are big but super lightweight and really fun. Get your Gypsy vibe on!

"Hearts"- These were requested by my daughter. Simple pink murano glass hearts with sterling silver. Not too long and perfect stocking stuffer for any little girl that loves pink. (Can be made with posts to make them a little shorter)

"Sorbet"- Now these are just a little more grown up... OK who am i kidding, these are totally Barbie!! Super cute pink swirled with sterling silver. What girlie girl wouldn't wear these?

"Sunkist"- Juicy orange wavy glass beads are just tasty looking. Very fun and bright.
"Plum"- Simple, elegant plum colored drops with sterling accents. Another great pair to have around.

Look at me go.... I'm blogging like a big girl!!

I've been busy busy busy lately, between shopping for the holidays and a show every weekend for the past 6 weeks then trying to get my creative juices going while my body is saying TAKE A NAP ALREADY!

You've heard me yap on about Analiese Designs on Etsy and her fabulous pendants... well here are some more of her beauties on my creations.

"Meadow" is a beautiful necklace featuring Ocean Jasper, Sterling Silver and the sweetest of pendants from Analiese Designs.

"Midnight Cowgirl" is another of my fun and sassy Cowgirl Pinup pieces. She's just about as hot as they get with her guns drawn and kicked back on the fence. I dare any double crossin, no good hussy to cross her path!

This is "Valley", so sweet and kind... you hope! This necklace has just about everything strung up on it, turquoise, jade, coral, quartz and sterling... you name it! A totally fun and funky piece to dress up your day!

I just have to show off Tina and her gorgeous ladies! I had the pleasure of working with Tina to design the perfect necklaces for her bridal party recently.

That feels like my work schedule anymore! I have been so unbelievably busy and the upcoming Holidays are going to be a welcome break, of course my working will quickly be replaced by insane shopping... but I'm SOOOO ok with that!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of getting together with a great group of gals for the first ever HolidayMarket in Mission, Kansas. Had a great time and cant wait to do it again.

This weekend is the Burlington, Kansas Holiday Art & Gift Show. I've heard great things and this year is rumored to be the largest one yet. Very excited and hope you can come out to say hi!

Now on to the jewels:

Nelli sure does look spunky in "Gringo". This is one heck of a hot chunky necklace. Features tons of beautiful turquoise, gorgeous glass and fun shell beads. This one is a real show stopper!

Ahhh "Copper Caramel" now this one makes my mouth water. I've had the great pleasure of doing business with yet another amazing artist at Etsy.com. These delicious looking beads are polymer clay from the Etsian "Sparklebee" http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5250606

I am HOOKED on the beauty of these beads, and you would never believe how light weight this piece is. Compared to "Turtle" this one is by far much easier to wear.

And speaking of "Turtle" here it is:

HUGE turquoise beads and sterling silver, nothing better in my eyes (ok unless it was dipped in chocolate but that would be so messy). Now as i mentioned before this is a hefty piece and not to be worn by the weak. "Turtle" will have a matching necklace soon, well as soon as I can come up with a way to keep it from making you have a hunchback from the weight.

With that being said.... I better get back to work. I have many other new pieces not listed here but there just isn't enough time in a day I fear.

Slackers raise your hands!

I know I neglect the blog so badly but at least once a week is better than nothing.

Seems things just never slow down. I've had a great time working the weekend Art & Craft shows lately and still have 3 more dates on the calendar. If I haven't had the chance to meet you prior be sure to come out to any of the next 3 to visit my booth and pick up some super hot Christmas gifts for the jewelry lover on your list.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of being in Madison, Kansas for their Fall Arts & Crafts show, even made the Emporia Gazette. Thank you all that came out to shop.

"Starr" was created in my downtime between getting my set up completed and the doors opening for business.

It features my favorite spur rowel pendant but with a twist this time. A gorgeous silver star really grabs your attention on this one. The long turquoise beads are quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

"Bit" earrings are a great compliment to the "Starr" necklace. They might be small but they are mighty.

And last but not least.... my fondness of cowgirl PinUps lives on.

"Honky Tonk" is already sold but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on all the fun. I have at least 6 new pinup girls coming this way! I'm so excited.

Latest addition to the TPJ crew....

Well I've finally found her.... Please meet Nelli- the new TPJ model.

I had this idea of what I wanted in my head but could never seem to find just the right bust or dress form, then I found the perfect dress and still had nothing to put it on. Then out of the blue I find out that Becky at "Olde Glory" had found just what i was looking for. I got down to the store that next day and there she was (holding up an old piece of fence with her "neck")!!

Nelli!!!! I scooped her up quicker than you could blink. She even rode, seat belted in the front seat on the way back to my office. Then, nekked as a jay bird, I proceeded to haul her into my office to show off. Thank God my co-workers aren't surprised by this stuff when it comes to me! She sat on my desk for the rest of the afternoon. OK so at one point I put my shawl on her as to not offend the boys here.

Now she's at home in my dining room, donning the fanciest 1940's party dress and rocking some great jewels!

Keep an eye out for Nelli and I at our upcoming shows!

Earring addiction!

I think I've managed to form an earring addiction lately.

The "Love me Knot" earrings were originally designed for my aunt Marcia at the Spring Open House. This pair are done in a beautiful neutral Picasso jasper with sterling silver findings.

I love these earrings! "Minted" is the name of the bracelet that goes with these earrings. Beautiful mint alabaster faceted globe and Swarovski crystal with Bali silver accents. They may look big but as they say... "Go big or go home"!

The simplicity of "Graduated" appeals to just about anyone. These are a great "go to" pair of earrings when you are in a rush and just need to grab something and go!

"Wooded" are all kinds of earthy. The beautiful Picasso jasper and wooden looking beads are a great combination. Sterling silver swirls around the top 2 beads like a breeze.

"Global" look like little globes of the earth being cradled by beautiful Bali silver. I usually like bigger earrings but for some reason i think these make a great statement without being bigger than a thought. "Global" also go great with the Denim Blue "Cowgirls Dream" necklace featured in my last post.
Aaahh "Gypsy" how i relish the thoughts of wandering in search of wonderful treasures. These earrings are made to compliment the "Gypsy" necklace mentioned in the last entry.

So many earrings and only 2 ears... whats a girl to do? Oh that's right, buy them anyways, they are just like shoes, you can never have enough!

Stocking Up!

With all of the upcoming Art & Craft shows I've really been working hard on getting new pieces done. I think all of my creative juices have been put into jewelry thus leaving NOTHING witty to write for the Adorned blog. *sigh* So I guess I shall just share some of the newest pretties. That's what you're here for anyway isn't it?

This piece is without a name so far... and that is completely unlike me! So bring on the suggestions.

Beautiful Carnelian chips and frames accented by sterling silver and a fire opal Swarovski crystal. This piece is right in time for fall. Matching bracelet available.

Another "Cowgirls Dream" this time in Denim blues! Gorgeous Denim Lapis accented by blue fossil beads and sterling silver. This time the signature spur rowel is covered in Montana Blue Swarovski crystals.
You'll notice this one is a little on the "lighter" side since it is only 2 strand but believe me that doesn't effect its beauty!

This one is unnamed as well... see... I have no more creative abilities... its like kryptonite to Superman.

This pendant was such a find, beautiful turquoise and coral embedded in fun, fancy metal work. Although it is not sterling like I would have preferred it still has this ancient, antique feel to it that is just phenomenal.

My next entry will be dedicated to all the fun new earrings I've been making. Just a hint... each of the necklaces seen here have matching or complimenting earrings available too!

Football Time!!!

Although I don't follow college football as much as one of my dearest friends I sure do know how you can sport your team!

Not long ago i introduced ya'll to a fabulous artist on Etsy.com named Rachel of Analiese Designs. The great University Mascot pendants featured are once again from her talented hands! The best thing, she can do just about anything your little heart desires. So if you have an image in mind just drop me a line and we can get it all worked out!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk GO KU!!! Beautiful Crimson and Blue! This necklace features red and blue fossil beads and accented by sterling silver and red swarovski crystals. Corky!!! My kids adore Mr Corky ever since Emporia started doing the "Corky on Parade" around town. Again wire wrapped style (this is super durable for rowdy tailgate parties) Faceted black glass beads and ESU gold fiberoptic beads. Think there is even a little onyx thrown in for good measure. All finished off with a sterling silver toggle clasp.

And lastly the Powercat from KSU. It pains me to have so much purple around me but I guess not nearly as bad as if I made a Pit State Gorilla.... LOL.. OK so seriously.. I guess I could if the price were right. Heck I'd even make a Dallas Cowboys necklace if the price were right (of course I'd have to be disinfected afterward! I can already hear the sighs and growls now)

Not that it means anything but this particular necklace is already sold and on its way to a dear friend of mine in Kansas City.

I have so many new pieces to share... just no time to even get them photographed it seems. I promise to work on that today if the clouds stay at bay this afternoon.

Wild Ride!

Wow... what a wild ride this last month has been! I'm really beginning to wonder how long I can keep this pace up, kids, work, business, more business... and all the while trying to keep my creativity going! I'm definately going to have to find some ways to keep the creativity flowing!

So, last weekend I dove head first into the world of Art & Craft shows and let me just tell you this... I could not have been more pleased with the turn out! I was so nervous, had all the typical first timers fears. "What if nobody likes my stuff, what if I don't sell anything, what if something bad happens like my canopy blows away or some wild gang of purple haired skateboarders decided to use my antique tables as a great ramp!!! ((yeah that last one was such a typical fear of every crafter LOL)) But in the end (and by end I mean 12 hours later) I was overjoyed with the success and response!

If you didn't come see me this is what it looked like. I cant wait until i can buy a nice EZ up with sides!

So in between schmoozing and selling i managed to complete a couple pieces as well:

This is "Crystal Cross", its a beautiful long strand for clear crystal chips with Onyx chips in for contrast. All anchored by a beautiful antiqued sterling flourish cross.

Insert Happy Happy Sale Dance Here

What a wild ride this has become! This summer I decided it was due time to take my business seriously and make it really a business and not an expensive hobby. Well, in a little less than 2 months I have been so incredibly busy. Amazing what a little shameless self promotion and confidence can do for a person!

For any of you following this blog you know that I launched my Etsy.com site in July. It has been an exciting move and I finally have my first official non connected sale!!! I have 2 other sales thru there but there were friends that apparently love me ;-).
I'm sure Big Savanna will be excited to know that "Lipstick Kisses" has been sold and will be heading via the USPS to New York state!

Stay tuned folks... I hope to come back over the weekend with a little something to do with School "Spirit" just in time for fall sports and some "Darling" little girl items.

Finally Friday!

I can not believe what a long week this has been. I've been swamped with my day job and trying to get ready for my first "market" booth in 2 weeks now. I tell ya, its a good thing I work in the Mental Health field because otherwise I would have no idea just how obsessive I really am! WOW

Now since I've told you just how busy I've been you'll have to understand that I've not had time to make much lately, well maybe i should say FINISH anything. I have some started items that i think ya'll will really like but i have yet to get them completed. Don't worry, I'll work on them this weekend I promise.

So for today i thought i would showcase some of my favorite items that I have in my store.

Since my all time favorite design was featured in my last blog (Cowgirls dream necklace) I wont force you to hear me oooohhhh and aaaahhhh over it again. (I will if you want me to though) ;-)

This is "Charlene"! Gorgeous lemon and lime colors anchored by a fun silver concho. I had a hard time deciding which way to go naming this one. The colors strike me as fresh and cool like lemon lime soda but then again it also has the fun John Deere colors going on. Since it has the country girl flair of the concho I figured i better go with the John Deere direction. I have a "Thank God for Country Boys" t-shirt with the exact same colors!
Charlene needs a good home before I decide to just keep her! Shes in my Etsy.com shop, check her out!

This one is a classic. I love the soft shimmer of the cream colored pearls. Somehow this set pulls off the classic feel along with a fun, modern feel with the ribbon and over sized pearls.

"Champagne Wishes" is available with just about any color ribbon imaginable. I'm working on a custom order for a bride in Massachusetts right now who is matching the ribbon color to her amazing J Crew bridesmaids dresses. The colors are a fun brite pink sorbet color and a nice deep almost "army" green. Not quite a moss but not a sage... its just beautiful!

"Champagne Wishes" has a complimenting bracelet as well. I just love this bracelet!

Wishful thinking!

I think I'm jonesing for cooler weather because my latest pieces have been more suited to the Fall season. Lots of browns, turquoise and warm golden colors.

The most recent "Cowgirls Dream" in Turquoise, tiger eye and various glass and crystal beads.

This beauty has matching earrings available as well. Simple, but with this necklace you really don't need much more.

I have been looking at these Jade beads for at least 2 years now and have yet to come up with a great design to showcase them. Well finally... I figured it out!!!! This piece has yet to be named, give me your suggestions.

Its looking to be a wild Fall for TPJ this year, I've already signed up for 3 different craft/art shows and have the potential to pick up yet another. I'm excited but a bit nervous. Just hoping it all works out well and is profitable. If anyone wants to come help me work at any of them just let me know ;-) I don't pay well but I'm sure we can work out some nice jewelry benefits!

Oh and if you've ever wondered what keeps me busy... these 4 will surely answer that for you! This would be my motley crew of munchkins. Big D, Gidgett, Grace & Tator (no not their real names but what I call them out of pure love!) I'm a slacker of a mom so this is first day of school AFTER the fact! I was photographing some jewelry when my son asked "Why didn't you take a picture of us this morning mom?" UUmmmm I didn't have a good answer. I may never win the "Mom of the Year" award but I'm in the front running for "Most likely to run away to Mexico" LOL. Oh the trials and tribulations of a slacker mom!
Thank God they still love me even though I fail them at times!

So, in "shop news" I've finally got my first official Etsy.com sale... ok so I forced Angie to purchase her bracelet through Etsy so I could show at least one sale. I still consider it an official sale though!

Pendant-a-licious!

Wow, I'm slow at this. Cant believe its been more than 2 weeks. I'm so ready for school to start back up so I can get the kids back into a good routine and maybe have a little time for myself and my jewelry again.

In my last entry I mentioned some fabulous pendants that I picked up from http://www.analiese.etsy.com/ and a hint to what I was working on for some birthday gifts. Well, here you go!

For my baby sister, the beautiful dragonfly necklace. I had such a fun time with this one, wire wrapped links with Picasso jasper and glass beads all tied together by the beautiful colors of the fimo clay dragonfly pendant by Analiese Designs. Hopefully I can get some pictures of sister modeling it while she's back this next week. YEA!!!!

I managed to get all worked up and not get pictures of Jessica's Pinup girl necklace... go figure! This is the pendant that I used, again from Analiese Designs. The necklace was wire wrapped links with faceted black glass beads and Swarovski crystal pearls. The turn out was simply elegant yet funky and fun. I better get pictures of this quick!

And last but not least... I couldn't resist, I made one for myself! "Betsy" is just adorable. Who cant resist a hot cowgirl, on a fence with her fancy red boots?
Again, wire wrapped sections with large red fossil beads, crystal accents and sterling silver. Even had fun and used a "stirrup" toggle clasp to keep with the cowgirl theme.

(excuse the poor photo quality, it was dark when I finished and had to use artificial light... ick))

So there you go... the latest from TPJ. I really love these pendants and hope to do more with Analiese Designs in the future. With that being said she can turn just about any picture into a beautiful pendant, so if you have something in mind and would love to have a necklace just let me know and we can get to work on it.

Next week is super busy for me but I hope to have a little time to work on new pieces and keep an eye out for new items in my Etsy.com store.

Lets go back in time!

I've been so busy with my store at Etsy.com lately that I've neglected my blog. Bad me... bad bad me.

Although I've been super busy creating at home I've not managed to get my pictures loaded so I can share with you what I've been up to.

I can tell you that I've been super busy making beauties for a couple of beauties in my life... my BF Jess is celebrating her birthday Friday and for her I created a hot little necklace with a fabulous pinup girl pendant. My baby sister will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday and for her I found a beautiful dragonfly pendant. I really want to share these with you now but because they haven't seen the finished product you'll have to wait until next week to see them.

So for today I thought I'd give you a few of my favorite pieces from the past.

Aaahhh "Roni". This bracelet has to be my most favorite piece to date. I have a dear friend who ordered this to give this as a gift last Christmas. It was super time consuming but well worth every single second! I've never filled any piece of jewelery with more Murano glass and bali silver before in all my life, but I'd love to do it again. This bracelet is pretty heavy, i do remember that!

"Cowgirls Dream" how I love these! This one was the first all pink I had ever done and it went FAST last Christmas. I've learned a lot with these and have had a lot of trials and tribulations but they still continue to be one of my favorite designs to do. Features a genuine spur rowell with Swarovski crystals. Most of my "Cowgirls Dream" necklaces feature a triple strand necklace design with some of the coolest gemstones and glass. I'm working on a Turquoise and Tiger Eye one currently. I think its gonna look fabulous.

Here is a "Cowgirls Dream" in Black snowflake obsidian. Super cute and I believe it is still in the jewelry case at Jim's Cowboy Shop here in Emporia.

Well I hope these will entertain you for a little bit. Hopefully I can show off the girls' birthday presents this weekend... don't want to spoil the surprise!

Aaaahhh to be by the beach.

In my years I've never seen the ocean, a beach (Melvern Lake swimming area does NOT count) or any body of water larger than the dirty nasty Mississippi! I even have a great excuse to go down to the Gulf and play in the water but alas... here i sit in my land locked world.

I have to admit, the pictures my sister has sent from Alabama have helped to inspire a few pieces that are full of "oceanic" thoughts. I've enjoyed working with shell, mother of pearl and gorgeous blues and greens.

Rose Quartz and mother of pearl with a gorgeous large MOP pendant. This is such a striking necklace against tanned summer skin. And with one of my favorite styles of earring, the Gypsy Hoops!

The next set is affectionately called the "Bailey" after my precious niece. I thought long and hard on this name and when it came to me it was like a "light bulb" moment. With the large diamond MOP shaped pendant and the accents of round frame beads it made me think of a "topsy-turvy" motion. Anyone that has been around my niece would know that she's a mover and a shaker! Not to mention the beautiful earth tones of the Serpentine Jade throughout. OK now i miss my niece and my sister......
Quite honestly this next piece makes me really want to go swimming. The movement and funky lines make me think of moving waters and of course the colors of the quartz are just stunning. This piece is still yet to be named... so bring on the ideas!

Its a bit nerve wracking to think up descriptive ways to portray these pieces.... any talented writers out there? I'm going to wear out the thesaurus!

Although I've NEVER been a fan of southwest artwork or design somehow in the past year I've come to be a lover of turquoise. Something about the variations in matrix (those brown veins in the pretty stones) and the wide span of cooling blues and greens just draws me to it.

I did a little reading on the stone and it is said to have a calming effect and used in holistic medicine to treat patients suffering from panic attacks and mania... No wonder why I'm so calm... ha ha ha!!!

Havasu Falls... now this is inspiration!

And from the Havasu Falls.... I give you the "Havasu" set. Flat pebble heat treated turquoise stones mixed with black lip shell circle accents and all pulled together by the fabulous rectangular turquoise pendant. (recognize the pendant... its the one from the "Greenhorn" entry!)

I'm particularly happy with the earrings. I ordered a new earwire this week and I'm ecstatic over how nice they are to work with. They are made from a process of twisting 2 thin sterling wires together (think twist and curl Barbie LOL) then fashioning the french hook earwire. I've found that I don't have the problem of the earrings working themselves out of my ears as easily. Yeah no earnut required on these!

TPJ: The Greenhorn Entry

Well here goes.... the FIRST entry in the Adorned by TPJ blog. I feel almost lost getting this going but hope to be able to do justice to all the Blogs I've stalked before. LOL

I've been finishing up pieces for family lately. Mom's necklace for mothers day needed some earrings to go with so those were finished last night. My Aunts fun liquid silver bracelet and knot earrings are all packaged and ready to roll. I even made time to create a funky new teal MOP bracelet for myself. I promise to get some pictures to this page.... I'm just extremely slow when it comes to photos of my work.

I have some gorgeous new findings, beads and pendants to start creating with so maybe a few pictures of these items will help entice my abilities.

Turquoise... its become an addiction for me. I just cant wait to use this fun pendant!

Fun MOP (mother of pearl) rectangle frames! I've got these in "pink lemonade" "mint ice" "spring green" and "Candy Apple Red". They have been so much fun to work with and i have some fun summer designs already done! ((Darn it.. this is when getting my pictures uploaded would sure come in handy))

Until next time, I'll be working with some of the gorgeous KC brides I've been so lucky to have the privilege to design for. Maybe my next installment will be devoted to them.
